Digital Dentures vs. Traditional Denture

Evolving Choices and Conveniences

Working closely with our in-house lab, our team of dental professionals have been designing and fabricating dentures for our patients in the greater Akron and Canton area for nearly six decades. With all our hands-on experience over those many years, we fully understand how important it is to embrace and utilize a unique blend of both science and art to create quality dentures that look natural, feel comfortable, and allow someone who wears a denture to eat, drink, and speak confidently. The more we can refine the science and the art of denture creation, the more attractive, comfortable, and functional dentures become. That’s exactly what advancements in technology are enabling us to do. Today, we are quickly evolving from traditional denture design and fabrication methods to digital denture methods. Here are the growing number of choices, options, and features for patients who are considering new or replacement dentures.

State-of-The-Art Modern In-House Dental Lab

We could not offer digital denture options without our state-of-the art, modern, in-house dental laboratory. Throughout our history, we have continually invested in talent, technology, equipment, and materials to allow our in-house dental laboratory to stay cutting-edge and deliver quality, consistency, reliability, and efficiency. This gives us the ability to provide our patients, who choose to have a denture created, with a high level of service and a quality product, all with a price and warranty that are difficult to beat.

Precise, Easy, Quick, and Interactive Design Process

The many advantages of digital dentures start from the beginning. In a matter of minutes, non-invasive 3D scanners accurately capture a digital impression of a patient’s mouth and simultaneously feed fundamental data and precise measurements into special computer software which allows our dental professionals to interactively design a denture with the ability to display a full-color, computer-generated, three-dimensional, real-time image of what the denture will look like both inside and outside of the individual patient’s mouth.

Production with 3D Printer or Robotic Milling Equipment

Once the digital design of the denture is finalized, the denture can be either printed using our 3D printer or fabricated with our robotic milling equipment using high-strength durable resin materials.

Ongoing Daily Life

When considering a denture, people can get overly focused on the design and fabrication process and not so much on what daily life will be like for years to come once they receive their denture and walk out of our dental office. With all the features and conveniences afforded by a digital denture, there is a significant positive impact on future daily life which should be taken into consideration from the start. The increased precision and accuracy that comes from the advanced technology in both design and production improves long term daily fit, comfort, and function. It also reduces the need for future adjustments and alterations. Additionally, because of the high-strength resin materials used in the digital denture production process, the denture has increased durability.

Summarizing the Comparison

The advancements in denture technology we are adding to our dental laboratory offer patients more options and choices. That’s always beneficial when it comes to matching individual needs and budget. Here is a list that summarizes the current comparison between traditional and digital dentures:

  • Digital dentures generally require fewer visits by a patient to our office during the design and fabrication process.
  • Computer-generated renderings provided with digital dentures allow both our dental professionals and our patients to visualize and discuss the final appearance and make real-time modifications.
  • The time needed to design and fabricate a digital denture can be much faster.
  • Digital dentures offer better fit, comfort, function, and appearance.
  • The replacement of a digital denture is much quicker.

nothing to fear with dental care
By Dr. Mark Grucella 22 Oct, 2022
Halloween can understandably be a scary time of year. Afterall, when October rolls around, we start seeing the emergence of witches, ghosts, ghouls, goblins, vampires, bats, spiders, and everything else that can make the hair on the backs of our necks stand up. But then, October 31 st comes and goes, and we realize, there really wasn’t anything to fear in the first place. It was just our worries, anxieties, or the unknown running wild and getting the better of us. Time and time again, our new patients tell us how dental care can be a lot like Halloween. They have anxiety because of the unknown, or they had an unfavorable experience in the past that resulted in a reluctance to continue to seek care on a regular basis. We are proud to say we were a breath of fresh air for these patients. Once they came to us, they discovered there really wasn’t anything to fear and now look forward to each and every appointment so they can enjoy the many benefits of routine dental care. As we like to say, “Our Dental Care Does Not Scare” and here’s why: Friendly, Fun, Non-Judgmental Style of Care When patients come to one of our three Akron-Canton area dentist offices, they find a welcoming and friendly team of professionals focused only on the comfort, care, and well-being of our patients. We also like to have some fun! In addition to being dedicated dental professionals, we are sports fans who like to support our teams. When there’s a big game, you’ll see each of us wearing our favorite team’s jersey whether it’s the Guardians, Browns, and yes, even the Steelers. Holidays also provide us with great opportunities throughout the year to incorporate some fun by decorating our offices and ourselves with the applicable ornamentation. What’s really special is watching how our patients love to join in on the fun and dress up for the big games and holidays too! Informing and Empowering Our Patients Before we proceed with any type of care, we provide our patients with all the information, explanations, and answers to questions they want. Costs are also shared up-front so approval can be given and there are no surprises. We make sure our patients are always in charge of their individual care. Navigating Dental Insurance Benefits Like any type of insurance, dental benefits can get complicated. What’s covered? What’s not? Am I taking full advantage of all my dental insurance benefits? These are just a few of the most frequently asked questions by our patients. We help you navigate your dental insurance plan and understand all your benefits. No Dental Insurance, No Problem Not everyone has a dental insurance plan and the ability to minimize their out-of-pocket dental care cost. That’s why we created an in-house discount dental plan. It helps our patients who are not covered by dental insurance save on everything from cleanings and fillings to cosmetic procedures and crowns. See Why There’s Nothing To Fear While many people put off dental care because of worries or anxieties, we invite you to give us a try by scheduling an appointment at one of our three Akron-Canton area dental office locations. Please call us at 330-733-7911 or send us a request for an appointment here on our website by visiting this link: REQUEST APPOINTMENT Just like Halloween, we’re confident you are going to see there really is nothing to fear. In fact, you may just find you’ll have some fun!
